How A Vitamin Cured My Anxiety (and how you can see if it’s causing yours!)

The number of people in the U.S. who have experienced weakening because of an anxiety condition in recent years is over 40 million. Only 10 % will ask for treatment, and of those people, the proper treatment will receive only 1%.

The questions that usually raises is what the proper treatment is. Elisa Black experienced a very simple way of treating this condition by using vitamin B, and she decided to share her incredible story.

Her anxiety was manifested in a way that it destroyed relationships, clawed at her insides until she was sick, plagued her with panic attacks and tipped her into post-natal depression, after her first son was born.

When she was a child she saw a neighbor fall into a puddle and she dreamed of it and was obsessed with it. She would see him appearing suddenly and unexpectedly outside her house, engulfing her baby brother or innocent parents. At that time she was feeling unsafe.

For the period of the primary school, she was obsessed with leprosy. She was every day scared that the next day would be her last day on Earth.

When she was a teenager she experienced a phobia of vomiting and she was too scared to eat around other people because it might happen in front of them.

As a young adult, the problem was manifested as panic attacks. She believed that her body could not tolerate heat and even seeing someone sweating on TV as it could tip her into a full-blown panic attack.

When she was 25 she had to move back home with her parents and locked in her room for three months, believing that she would die if she leaves the room.

She tried to find a cure for a decade. She managed to improve it a while with some things, but with others wasn’t any progress, and anxiety was always present there in some way. Even taken medication, such as Aropax, Effexor, Cipramil or Zoloft and some other therapies like Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, exposure therapy, hypnosis, visiting psychologists, psychiatrists, and herbalists were not helpful at all.

She, also persistently meditated morning and night, practiced yoga, exercised enthusiastically in order to get rid of the adrenalin coursing through her veins.

She even avoided anxiety-inducing situations to the point of agoraphobia and sought solace in wine. However it was not helpful too, and her anxiety has edged ever closer to depression. She felt that condition as a personal failing, as she was not able to control it.

However, she succeeds to do it in a very simple way by using vitamins.

The Vitamin That Helped Her

She was looking outside for the answer, for years, decades, instead of looking inside all along. She found that her genes were the cause of this condition and her body has a trouble processing B-group vitamins.

According to the experts, this is not a specific case, because the genetic mutation affects close to one in five people. The genetic mutation could be responsible for many other illnesses, such as mood disorder or multiple miscarriages to strokes, diabetes or cardiovascular disease.

Fortunately, there is a potential treatment for this condition – folinic acid, which is cheap, easy to find and without side-effects.

There is a difference between folinic acid and the common dietary vitamin, B9 or folic acid. Variations in the MTHFR gene were not able to convert folic acid into a form that her body can use — folinic acid, which leads to a Pandora’s Box of health problems.

She was visiting Dr. Andrew Owen, who comforted medical mix of compassion and curiosity, listening to her about the anxiety problems for more than 10 years.

When she first saw him she was in virtually constant panic attacks, had stripped 10kg from her frame, had persistent insomnia, and left a relationship in ruins and many other accompanying health issues.

Thanks to his efforts she managed to tone down her hysterical side with drugs and psych referrals, but the anxiety had never entirely left her.

Then he suggested her to be tested for a MTHFR variation. The research was based on observing benefits of taking folinic acid, and additionally, Owen conducted his own specific research before deciding to see if it could help others.

After a few of his patients who responded dramatically, Owen thought this could be something to use on those who didn’t respond to SSRIs, which is a type of antidepressant.

As, like so much in medicine, the effects of this treatment aren’t utterly predictable, he continued the research by treating at least a couple of hundred patients with this method. There were included also people with other illnesses, such as fibromyalgia, migraine, and hypertension, as well as kids with ADHD and autism. The doctor has seen improvements in all these treatments.
