Eating This Type of Honey is Worse than Drinking Soda. It Contains Heavy Metals and Antibiotics.

The Food Safety News, according to recent testing done, claimed that 76% of honey sold in stores in the U.S. isn’t real honey. It is a fake honey product full of toxic sugars and syrups. In these honey, products are also found antibiotics and heavy metals that, actually contaminate them.

Bees are fed with Corn Syrup and Fructose

The responsibility of honey bee nutrition is to help in developing and maintaining strong and healthy colonies. Within the process of hiving and seeking, carbohydrates play an essential part as they provide energy for all activities. Carbohydrates are naturally obtained by the honey bees by collecting nectar or honeydew. In case the natural sources are limited or people have removed a colony’s supply of carbohydrates, beekeepers should feed the honey bees with the supplements. They usually use sucrose solution, inverted sugar syrup, or other syrups (high fructose corn syrup – HFCS or starch syrup) for that purpose.

This process of producing honey, actually, creates a different type of honey that in fact has no nutritional value.

Bees are Given Large Doses of Antibiotics

In order to protect the honeybees from diseases, they are given large doses of antibiotics, however, in this way the honey also becomes contaminated. They are veterinary antibiotics, such as chloramphenicol, sulfonamides, and streptomycin. Some of them, such as chloramphenicol, in large doses administered to human beings, may cause aplastic anemia and cancer. In the same way, high doses of sulfonamides and streptomycin are harmful to the human body.

Heavy Use of Pesticides

A study conducted by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), found that pesticide, called clothianidin, is completely unacceptable for use, and banned it from use entirely.

For now, the U.S. uses the same pesticide on more than a third of its crops (nearly 143 million acres). Two more of the pesticides, linked to bee death, imidacloprid and thiamethoxam are also used extensively in the US, while they have been taken out of use in other countries.

Most Honey is Fake

The nutritionists found that all the honey in stores is not only fake but is without bee pollen. After the extraction of honey with a special machine they mix it in honey imported from countries like India and China, which is banned from international markets. Making the honey this way, nobody knows where the honey is from.

Four ways to spot artificial honey

  1. The Thumb Test

By putting a drop of the honey on your thumb, you can see is it pure or not. If it spills or spreads around right away, it’s not pure or if it stays intact, it’s pure.

  1. The Water Test

Add one tablespoon of “honey” into the water in a full glass of water. If the honey lumps and settle at the bottom of the glass, then this is a pure honey, while if it is adulterated and artificial honey it will start dissolving in water.

  1. The Shelf Life Test

If the honey crystallizes over time then that is a pure honey, while fake honey will remain looking like syrup, even if is stored for a long time.

  1. Light a Fire

By dipping the tip of a matchstick in “honey”, and striking it later to light you can recognize its quality. You will succeed to light the match easily if the honey is natural, while fake honey will not light as it moistures the tip.
